Amanda L. Booren -- November 20, 2013

PASADENA, Texas – Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP’s (Chevron Phillips Chemical) Pasadena Plastics Complex has donated $78,500 to the San Jacinto College Foundation in support of student scholarships and equipment.

“This is a time of exciting growth in the chemical industry. We are pleased to support San Jacinto College in developing the skilled workforce of the future,” said Lynn Irvine, business services manager at Chevron Phillips Chemical’s Pasadena Plastics Complex.

The check for $78,500 was presented to San Jacinto College at the October Board of Trustees meeting. The donation will be used to create an endowment through the San Jacinto College Foundation, provide scholarships immediately for students, and for the purchase of equipment for the process technology and instrumentation programs.

“We are so excited about this relationship with Chevron Phillips Chemical,” said Ruth Keenan, executive director of the San Jacinto College Foundation. “By providing scholarships and helping meet our equipment needs, Chevron Phillips Chemical is creating a legacy of support for San Jacinto College. They are helping our students realize their dreams.”
