Women’s basketball announces 2012-2013 schedule

HOUSTON – San Jacinto College women’s basketball Head Coach Eric Taylor has announced the 2012-2013 schedule, one that features 12 home games, including the annual San Jac Classic, a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Pink Zone® game, and matchups against Region XIV powerhouses Trinity Valley Community College and Tyler Junior College.

San Jacinto College begins the 2012-2013 season on the road Nov. 2-3 at the Baton Rouge Community College Classic in Baton Rouge, La., where it will face Baton Rouge Community College and East Mississippi Community College. The first home game for San Jacinto College is Tuesday, Nov. 6, a non-conference matchup against Temple Junior College. San Jacinto College will then hit the road again for the annual Johnny Vance Classic Nov. 9-10 in Shreveport, La., before returning home for the San Jac Classic, which features Baton Rouge Community College and Southern Shreveport Community College.

The 2012-2013 Region XIV conference season opens Saturday, Dec. 8 at home against Panola College. Conference home games include Kilgore College (Jan. 5), Angelina College (Jan. 9), Tyler Junior College (Jan. 30), Trinity Valley Community College (Feb. 2), Jacksonville College (Feb. 20), Blinn College (Feb. 23), and Paris Junior College (March 2). The Feb. 20 game against Jacksonville College is the WBCA Pink Zone® game. The WBCA Pink Zone® initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities, and beyond.

The 2013 Region XIV conference tournament will take place March 7-10, 2013, in Tyler. The last Region XIV tournament appearance for San Jacinto College was in 2011.
