#1 -Amber Murphy

Libero/Defensive Specialist

For 2006: Amber is expected to stand out defensively for the Ravens, where her ability to dig and pass tough shots will be a big plus. Her experience in state-level matches at the high school level will also allow her to make a quick transition to JUCO volleyball.

Prior to SJC: Amber was part of two state championship teams during her three varsity seasons at Rio Rancho High School, one of the top programs in New Mexico. She was the team captain last season and went on to earn first team all-state honors at the libero spot. In the classroom, Amber excelled, becoming a member of the National Honor Society in each of her high school years.

Nelson on Murphy: “Amber brings leadership, talent, energy and passion to the team. She has been in situations where it has taken mental strength in addition to skill to win and has excelled. For us, Amber will add to the defense and also provide vocal leadership. She is coachable, is not afraid to go after any ball and has an even personality that suits our style well.”
