Physical Plant
The goal of the physical plant is to keep campus systems in good repair, to make the college community a comfortable safe and beautiful place towork, and to respond quickly to the needs of our campus clients. In the average year, the Maintenance Department Operations Center processes more than 8,000 work orders. In order to keep up with this workload, the Maintenance Department must prioritize and schedule non-emergency work requests.
The goal of the Maintenance Department is to serve the customer as efficiently as possible. The Maintenance Department makes every effort to meet personnel needs and time tables and to keep those parties informed about the status of their work requests.
In our continuing effort to better service our College and customers, we have upgraded our Facilities Maintenance Management Computer System to enable our customers to e-mail into District Physical Plant their Maintenance Request.
Maintenance Requests that are received via e-mail will be acknowledgedby a return e-mail to the originator stating the date received, your request, and Work Order Number. You will then also receive e-mail notification when the job is finished.

The Maintenance Department will always respond to an emergency; however, good judgement should be an important factor in determining when anemergency call to maintenance is appropriate.
Any disaster, chemical spill, unusual occurrence, utility malfunction,or equipment failure that presents an imminent danger to life, limb or property is an emergency and should be reported immediately to the campus maintenance office on that particular campus. In addition, calls should be placed to the campus police (ext. 5555) and to the District Safety Office (281-998-6183).
To deal with Chemical Spills, the District has contracted with a professional organization having the equipment and trained personnel to deal with the accidental spilling of hazardous materials. Their mission is to remove and to properly dispose of the chemicals and to return the area to its original safe condition. In the event of a Chemical Spill, call the Campus Police immediately at ext. 5555.
