6-5 Auditing Classes
In fall 1993, the college inaugurated a new policy to permit students to audit classes.
General Policies
Approval to audit a course may be granted to individuals based upon information as stated on the formal application. Applications to audit courses are found in the counseling offices.
Auditing a course provides the privilege of attending lecture classes only. Auditors will not be permitted to attend laboratories or performing and/or activity courses. Auditing students will not take examinations, submit papers or reports, complete laboratory exercises or field work, or receive grades in the course. Individuals with audit status will not be given semester hour credit and/or grades after having enrolled on an audit basis. Records of students auditing courses will not be maintained by the college. A one-time fee of $50 will be charged for auditing one lecture course. Auditors will be limited to one (1) lecture course per semester. The charge of $50 will not be refunded after enrollment. Senior citizens who are 65 years of age or older may audit a course without payment of fees. The audit of a lecture course is based on provisions as stated in the college catalog. Auditors must provide evidence of age. Senior citizens may audit specific adult and continuing education courses without payment of fees on a space-available basis. The director of continuing education must give the approval for auditing adult and continuing education classes.
Enrollment of Auditing Students
Auditors may enroll in a lecture course after the drop-add period set aside during late registration. Auditing a course may be permitted on a space-available basis if approved by the instructor, department and/or dean.
