7-4 Curriculum Facilitator
- Serves as curriculum leader for the curriculum proposal team and attends staff development meetings related to the curriculum review and revision process
- Convenes and organizes curriculum proposal team meetings in accordance with curriculum review and revision timelines
- Keeps department chair, associate dean, vice president of instruction, technical dean and academic dean and curriculum team informed on the progress of curriculum proposals
- Provides input and needed documentation to his/her curriculum proposal team members regarding proposed course additions, deletions or revisions, curriculum pattern changes, and course outcomes. Revisions should be made from verified need (i.e., valid survey, other research) and/or input from such sources as accrediting agencies, advisory committees, business and industry, or district directives, professional organizations, state agencies, task analysis (DACUM)
- Keeps all resource materials needed by the committee
- Submits curriculum proposal to webmaster for placement on Intranet
- Facilitates dialogue and assures that concurring and opposing views are presented via Intranet
- For technical programs, attends advisory committee meetings, makes curriculum proposal and revisions presentation, ensures an advisory committee vote is taken on each recommendation, and obtains signed advisory committee minutes to submit with curriculum proposals
- Obtains necessary signatures on curriculum proposal and on routing slips
- Completes and submits signed curriculum proposal and forms to vice president of instruction for placement on campus curriculum committee(s) and district curriculum committee agendas. That includes forms for all campuses on which a program exists. (Proposals should ideally reflect curriculum proposal team consensus, but a simple majority vote of campuses offering the program will be adequate)
- Meets with campus curriculum committee(s) to review curriculum proposals; and makes presentations to district curriculum committee
- In response to input received, provides feedback to campus and district curriculum committees regarding final curriculum decisions
- Ensures that the team has met its responsibilities as outlined in this manual including the charges to the curriculum proposal teams
- Discusses any proposed curriculum ideas or revisions with associate deans
- Participates in informal and/or formal meetings with colleagues on respective campuses regarding proposed or needed changes in their curricular area
