IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Before taking the COMPASS you must consult with a counselor in The Center For Student Development or The Office Of Enrollment Management. The counselor or Enrollment Specialist will give you a Testing Request Form that you must bring with you to the test
COMPASS testing at San Jacinto College South is for incoming or existing San Jacinto College Students only. Testing for admission to other institutions should be taken at the institution of intended registration or on the official state test, THEA, available on specific dates throughout the year given at San Jacinto College and other institutions of higher learning.
TEST EARLY! It is important that testing is completed well in advance of registration. Seating will be limited during registration periods.

The test takes approximately 3 hours. This test is valid as an alternative to THEA ONLY when you enroll in classes at San Jacinto College. Study for this test using the Official THEA Test Study Guide, available at the college bookstore.
Test results for the Alt. to THEA version with e-write will be available in approximately 2 BUSINESS DAYS. Paper and pencil essays may take up to 10 BUSINESS DAYS. All scores MUST be picked up in person at the Centers For Student Development.
COST: There is a $29 fee if the COMPASS test is taken and the student does not register.
RETESTING IS ALLOWED ON THE COMPASS ONLY DURING SPECIFIED DATES. (Fall/2007 Retest Dates)
MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR TESTING: Photo-bearing identification. Testing Request Form from a Counselor, Social Security number, and pencils. Do not bring cell phones, pagers, children, food, or drinks. Arrive 30 minutes prior to test time with required materials. (No late entry.)
NOTE: An admissions application should be filed with the Admissions Office prior to testing. Test scores will be unavailable to counselors and other San Jacinto College offices until the application is completed and uploaded to the College computer system. Test scores will be available in 2-5 business days during on-campus registration periods. The regular weekly test schedule shown above will be followed at all times other than those shown in the charts below. The Test Center hours are subject to change. The Test Center will close on regularly scheduled holidays and at other times throughout the year for special activities. It is always wise to verify daily/weekly hours before coming to the campus.* WARNING: If you test at this time, your registration may be delayed until the next registration period.
