Prior to SJC: Mette played basketball in Denmark, where she played for Skovbakken. She came to the U.S. to get a better feel for the American game and to attend college.

About Mette: A math major, Mette lists her favorite professional role model as her brother, and her favorite non-professional role model as her father, Dyrlund. She lists her athletic goals at SJC as becoming a better and faster shooter and to improve with the goal of going back to Denmark one day and playing professionally. Her team-oriented goals include being able to depend on and trust one another on the court and to go to the Region 14 tournament. Mette is the daughter of Inge and Dyrlund Sahlertz.

Silman on Sahlertz: “Mette’s biggest asset is that she is an intelligent player, and once she gets a better feel for our style of play Mette is going to be a big help on the inside. She hasn’t learned that it’s okay to bang with the bigger people inside, but she’s learning and is going to contribute.”
