San Jacinto College to offer bank teller training

HOUSTON – The Continuing & Professional Development (CPD) division of San Jacinto College will offer bank teller training classes beginning in February.

Classes will be held once a week on Monday evenings at both the North and South campuses. The schedule is as follows:

South Campus
February 11 - March 10, 2008
6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

North Campus
March 24 - April 21, 2008
6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Taught by local banker Elba Olvera, course topics include cashing checks, accepting deposits and loan payments, and processing withdrawals. The fee for the course is $260.

“Employment of tellers is projected to grow,” noted David Lewis, Director of Business and Professions for CPD. “People interested in an entry-level position as a teller should enjoy working with the public and feel comfortable handling large amounts of money,” concluded Lewis.
