Softball headed to Region XIV tournament
HOUSTON – The San Jacinto College softball team will face Paris Junior College on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 12 p.m., in opening round action of the Region XIV tournament at Hohlt Park on the campus of Blinn College in Brenham, Texas.

San Jac enters the tournament as the No. 4 seed with an overall record of 33-15, 17-11 in conference play. SJC is led offensively by sophomore shortstop Brittany Boren (Bryan, Texas / Bryan High School) who is hitting .368 on the year behind a team-leading 15 doubles and 36 RBIs.
“We’re seeded fourth and in a position to do really well,” said fifth-year head coach Kelly Saenz. “We have seen all the teams in the tournament, and if we show up to play, we will do very well.”
On the mound, freshman Kelsey McClain owns an ERA of 2.30, allowing 73 runs, while striking out 108 batters.
