Ashford University articulation agreement gives students another transfer option

PASADENA, Texas – San Jacinto College recently signed an articulation agreement with Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa, that enables students, who opt to transfer, guaranteed admission and the ability to carry with them the credits they have already earned.

The agreement is available to San Jacinto College students who graduate with any academic degree or certificate. Students may transfer up to 90 hours and opt to continue their education with Ashford online or at the university’s Iowa campus.

“This is yet another outlet for our students to continue their education after San Jacinto College,” said Dr. Catherine O’Brien, Dean of Teaching and Learning at San Jac. “Students have the potential to complete up to 90 hours at any of our campuses, and transfer all of that to Ashford University. I think that is of great value to our students.”

Students who earn an Associate of Arts (AA), an Associate of Science (AS) or an Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) will be recognized as having satisfied the first two years of coursework associated with Ashford University baccalaureate degree programs, and will not be required to repeat lower-division requirements at Ashford. All credits earned from San Jacinto College in all programs will be accepted and applied to the designated / appropriate Ashford University degrees.

Those students who graduate from San Jacinto College with an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or certificate can still transfer to Ashford. These students will be able to transfer courses numbered 1000 and above with a grade of “C-” or better as an elective, a general education requirement or, where applicable, an exemption or replacement for a required course.

“San Jacinto College has demonstrated a commitment to making higher education accessible, and that is the mission of our university,” said David Vande Pol, Senior Director of Academic Partnerships for Ashford University. “We are honored to partner with San Jacinto College and look forward to helping these students in Texas earn their bachelor’s degrees through Ashford.”
