Introduction - Geomatic Surveying Technology
Geomatic Surveying Technology (Land Surveying and Mapping) is considered a high-tech, multi-disciplined profession that employs state-of-art equipment and resources. The profession is in demand and the pay excellent. A career in Land Surveying is exciting work offering a vast amount of satisfaction. Most who enter the field say there is no profession quite like it and they would not want to do anything else. To become a Registered Professional Land Surveyor (R.P.L.S) in the state of Texas an individual needs to:
- Have an associate degree in Land Surveying, or 32 hours of college credit consisting of surveying or related courses approved by the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying.
- Complete two year experience as a Surveyor in Training(SIT)
- Obtain a bachelor degree in any field
- Take and pass the State required land surveying examination
The curriculum leading to an Associate of Applied Science Degree or Certificate of Technology is designed in coordination with professionals in the field to provide basic preparation for entry into the land surveying profession.
