Recitals Attendance Policy

During the semester several student recitals will be scheduled on various evenings throughout the semester. These dates will be on your semester Performance Calendar and posted at the front desk.  Recital performances allow students the opportunity to listen, critique and perform.  Attendance at recitals / concerts is mandatory and will be documented on a Recital Attendance Record for each attended.  Failure to attend the required performances will result in a lowered grade for your jury issued by your private lesson instructor.

All music majors must attend a minimum number of recitals/concerts in accordance with their private teacher each semester. These may include evening concerts in Corbin Recital Hall, or concerts off campus such as the Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, TUTS, Broadway Across America, Da Camera, Society for the Performing Arts, the Moores School of Music at University of Houston, the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, etc. Students are required to present a program of the attended concert to their private instructor.
