Cassandra Gutierrez
First Generation College Student

Cassandra Gutierrez is a recent graduate of San Jacinto College and is a first generation college student. After high school, Gutierrez was not sure what road she should take to enhance her future. She finally decided getting an education at San Jacinto College was the path leading to her future success.
“San Jacinto College has helped me grow as a student and as a person. I’ve not only received an excellent education but I’ve built my character through the experiences I’ve had at San Jac,” said Gutierrez.
“Seeing all the things my family had to go through growing up, I knew getting an education was the best option for me,” said Gutierrez. She has two younger siblings, one sister and one brother, and wanted to set a good example for them by going to college. Gutierrez’s little brother is already preparing for college and has started saving money in his piggy bank. “He says he wants to grow up to be just like his sister,” commented Gutierrez.
Gutierrez currently is a tutor at San Jacinto College South. She tutors both anatomy and algebra for current San Jacinto College students. Gutierrez is looking to go to nursing school next year and has applied to several nursing schools in Texas.
