About our Move

All of the tutoring centers on Central Campus (the Math and Science Resource Center, the Student Success Center, and the Writing Center) have merged to form one tutoring center in the library where all of your tutoring needs can be met. We still offer all of the same services as before, now just in one location known as The Student Success Center. In our area, we have thirty computers, a print station, and four study rooms, not to mention all of the same resources you were able to check-out before. Make sure you stop by to try out our new area and feel free to call us at 281-998-6150 x1224 with any questions you may have.

Student Success is our #1 Priority

The Math and Science Resource Center provides free tutoring in math courses (anything from Pre-Algebra to Differential Equations) and science courses (Chemistry and Physics). We also have many resources available for all science and math courses. Our tutors can help you identify errors and help you understand ways to approach the problem if you're stuck. Bottom line--we're here to help you succeed!

Our People: We're Students Too

Our staff members are students like you and "have been there". They all come from a variety of backgrounds and have had different experiences. Many have completed associates degrees at San Jacinto College and have transferred to UH and UHCL to pursue further education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The next time you visit our facility, get to know your tutor. If you're pursuing a similar major, it might ease your transition to hear what their experience was like.

Other Resources

In addition to tutoring, we have many resources available. For math, our resources include:

  • Graphing calculators to checkout
  • Instructional videos for extra practice
  • Computers with Maple 14 and internet access for MyMathLab/WebAssign

For science, our resources include:

  • Rocks and minerals for studying geology
  • Slides and microscopes for studying biology
  • Bones for studying anatomy and physiology
  • Computers with internet access for OWL

Our facility is certified through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).
