At a staggering 151,000 square feet, CPET is the largest petrochemical training facility
in the Gulf Coast region. In these state-of-the-art facilities, you can access innovation
labs, glass lab, glycol processing unit, and more — all designed to help you achieve
your company’s training and industrial goals.
CPET is a true innovation hub that provides enhanced spaces for industry work. Here
are the facilities that help make the Houston area the “Energy Capital of the World.”
Buildings and Units
There’s a reason CPET blazes trails in petrochemical innovation. It’s because students
and industry leaders get access to top technologies in these facilities:
Eaton Commons, which seats 250 people, partitions to two smaller conference rooms, and includes
a 10’X15’ digital screen. This space is also available to rent.
Glycol Unit, includes 72 I/O Rosemount smart transmitters, embedded utilities, an Emerson DeltaV
control system, and a 32-foot column for distillation.
Control Room, which houses six operator stations, a lead simulator station, operator lockers, and
a simulator lab that holds 36 students and 3 instructors.
Academic Training Labs
Preparing the next generation of skilled workers means giving them hands-on experiences.
Students learn experientially in these academic labs:
Glass Lab, which includes two tank farms feeding four process units and glass observation rooms.
Emerson Instrumentation Labs, which house 16 Emerson Performance Learning Platforms in three custom configurations. Process Instrument Control Lab, which offers a glycol unit simulator, Emerson DeltaV,
and a number of sample stations.
Two Simulation Computer Labs, which each run Simtronics Operator Training Simulators.
Several other training facilities, such as a Programmable Logic Controller Lab, a Valve Test Lab, a Pump Trainer Lab,
a Digital Control System Lab, and more.
Professional Labs
Sharpen your skills. Keep pace with an evolving industry. Or simply explore the latest
technology in your field. These labs have all you need:
Metallurgy Lab, which has equipment, such as vapor hoods, microscopes, and more, for examining metallurgic
samples.
Non-Destructive Testing Labs, which include two computers and five inspection labs.
Mechanical Skills Lab, which houses 15 toolboxes, basic piping configurations, and student workbenches.
Electrical Labs, which include state-of-the-art Eaton equipment for residential, commercial, and industrial
electrician training.
